This project reimagined a residential courtyard into a tranquil, multifunctional outdoor retreat centered on the client’s desire for a peaceful sitting area and soaking pool. The design introduced a broad sliding door to connect the interior living spaces with the courtyard, enhancing the sense of openness and redefining the relationship between indoors and outdoors.
Ioana Chinan was responsible for reconfiguring the entry sequence, including the redesign of the main gate and the addition of a stair providing access to a new bedroom above the garage. She also developed the decorative wood panel design and coordinated a cohesive landscape strategy to strengthen the visual identity and usability of the exterior spaces.
Water elements—including a sculptural feature and compact pool—were integrated to create a balanced sensory experience, combining movement, texture, and reflection. The result was a cohesive transformation that merged practical upgrades with a calm, refined atmosphere aligned with the client’s vision and the architectural character of the home.
